Roast Cauliflower

In a white sauce with Devondale “All-Rounder” Tasty Cheese

SHOPPING

  • 50g Devondale Butter, for greasing
  • 1 Whole cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 3 tbs Olive oil
  • 50g Devondale Butter
  • 1/2 cup Plain flour
  • 600ml Devondale Full Cream Milk
  • 1 cup Devondale “All-Rounder” Tasty Cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup Coarse breadcrumbs
  • 25g Devondale Butter, extra, melted
  • Salt & pepper for seasoning

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and lightly brush a 1.25L (6 -cup capacity) ovenproof dish with melted Devondale butter.
  2. Toss cauliflower florets with olive oil in the oven proof dish and season with salt & pepper.
  3. Roast florets in the oven proof dish for 20 minutes or until they are golden and crispy on the ends. Set aside.
  4. Meanwhile, melt Devondale Butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until foaming. Add flour and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until the mixture becomes golden brown. Remove from heat.
  5. Gently warm the Devondale Full Cream Milk and gradually add to the set aside mixture, whisking constantly, until smooth.
  6. Place over medium-high heat and cook, whisking, for 5 minutes or until sauce boils and thickens. Remove from heat.
  7. Stir in three-quarters of the Devondale “All Rounder” Tasty Cheese and season with salt and pepper. Pour directly over the cauliflower dish.
  8. Preheat grill to high. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and remaining Devondale “All-Rounder” Tasty Cheese over the cauliflower mixture and drizzle over the extra Devondale butter.
  9. Place the dish under the hot grill, about 10cm from the heat source, and cook for 5 minutes or until golden.
